3 Storey rear extension and basement
The project is in the heart of Chelsea in London. The project consists of a two-storey rear extension and enlargement of the and existing basement into a larger and deeper increasing the head height.
The proposal is made up of a number of steel portal frames providing large openings and stability between the existing building and the new extensions without compromising the stability of adjacent properties.
The challenges were mainly driven by the proximity to two other basements, both built at different depths, and a row of garages alongside the exposed flank wall.
The project involved a substantial amount of co-ordination work with the architects, and careful attention to every detail due to the construction near many party walls.I n this project we provided Structural Engineering and Party Wall services.
