7 New Semi-Detached Houses
The project consisted of the construction of 7 new houses in a disused industrial site.
The areas where we felt we added value were by proactive and constant communication and coordination with architects from the start; this was one of the main factors for the project’s success. We ensured that all the changes and instructions from the architects and client were carefully tracked and incorporated in a solution-oriented outcome.
We assisted our client in the production of a bespoke soil investigation specification. We prepared a soil specification to suit the needs of every project. This approach ensures that the scope and price is right, as soil sampling and investigation is not always economical, It is crucial to us that we provide our clients with excellent and accurate advice.
To get the structural design done and approved by Building Control we faced several challenges. The site is very close to water streams and aquifers, so the water level tends to be (was) high. As the soil had some contaminants, (so) we worked closely together with the Geological engineers to ensure the foundation proposal was adequate. The place was previously an industrial site. We worked with the architects to find (on) a suitable solution that would fit and meet all the Building Regulations criteria, the structural design as well as meeting the underground works budget.
