Mixed-use building
Humberto, our Senior Designer and Director was the main designer in this project back in 2019 and we would like to present it as it involved a good amount of structural analysis and careful co-ordination.
The project consisted of the construction of a new 4-storey building replacing an existing commercial unit. The top floor consisted of large, vaulted ceilings to maximise the use of the roof space and add several apartments.
The proposal was to build a number of new apartments on the first, second and third floor and a number of commercial units on the ground floor.
The building was designed and constructed with a steel frame structure and metal decking floors. The steel frame proposal was the most appropriate to mitigate the large window openings at the front and to achieve large internal spans to allow spacious, open-plan commercial units on the ground floor.
